Once upon a time there was a king who wanted to settle some accounts he had.  He called in a guy who owed him 10,000 bags of gold.  The man didn't have it and pleaded for mercy and more time to pay off his debt.  The king had compassion and forgave everything!

 

The man who had been forgiven went out happy however, he found someone who owed him 100 bags of silver.  "It's time to repay me" he said.  The one who owed pleaded with him for mercy and time but the man said, sorry, I have no mercy and you are out of time.  He had him thrown into prison.

 

When the king heard about how ungrateful the man whom he had forgiven was, he called him back in, said "what's the deal" and threw him into prison.

 

Enjoy the story?  Well, I didn't make it up...Jesus did.  He told it to Peter.  His point was that we, as Christians, have been forgiven so much therefore we can forgive others.

 

Holding on to a grudge?  Got something between you and someone else?  Jesus says to forgive.  After all, He has forgiven us many times over anything anyone else can do to us.
