Don't Sit This One Out   Sunday, September 24, 2017

People are upset.  Many in the NFL are deciding to sit out the National Anthem and people are mad.  Rightly so.  Why?  Because they are disrespecting the flag and disrespecting the one's who have died for our freedom.  It's not against the law and they have the right to sit it out.  But to show such disrespect is shameful.

 

What's even worse?  Many people who claim to love Jesus decided today to sit this one out.  They decided that sports, recreation, yard work and other things were more important than attending church and worshiping Jesus.  

 

Why is that wrong?  First they are disobeying God's command in Hebrews 10:25 which says, "not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near". 

 

Same thing as the NFL deal.  Disrespecting the Christian flag and disrespecting Jesus, the one who died for our freedom from sin.  It's not against the law since Christians are free from the law and we have the right to sit out.  But to show such disrespect is shameful.

 

Personally, I could care less about the NFL.  But I am kinda a Jesus freak.  I owe everything to Him.  And I can't even fathom missing out on an opportunity to worship Him with my family of believers.

 

Will you stand for Him or sit Him out?

 

ps.  If you are boycotting the NFL, it should free up your Sunday evening to come join us in church.
