T'werent Bad   Sunday, October 5, 2014

I did it!  I was successful in making seafood gumbo.  Just a tad too spicy but still, it was really good.

I have been preparing this dish for over a year.  No, it hasn't been on the stove that long but it has been "in the hopper" since August 2013.

Started with a trip to the beach and buying some shrimp, peeling, cleaning and freezing it.  I froze the shrimp peelings too.  I used the peelings to make stock later in the year only to freeze that.  Then I finally decided to give it the ole college try today and wallah - supper was ready!

Walking with Jesus should be more of a deliberate decision than seafood gumbo.  Just like I couldn't wait until the heat of the stove to decide to make supper tonight, you can't wait until the heat of temptation to decide to follow Christ.  It's a deliberate decision before hand.

The result was a enjoying a dish that tasted great, and I put 8 more bowls in the freezer for a cold winter day.  The result of following Christ is a "joy unspeakable and full of glory".

Want some gumbo?  Sorry...go make your own.  Want the joy of serving Jesus?  Can't do that for you either.  That's your choice as well.  Why not make a deliberate decision to follow Christ tomorrow, and the rest of your life.  You won't regret it!

Oh, is wallah really a word?  Spellchecker seems to think it is.  :)
