It Can't Be Free Sunday, February 24, 2013
I went to some basketball games yesterday. I was at the camp's Skoolzoutt display. (For those who know not, it's a free day of camp for Sullivan Co., Bristol TN and VA, and Kingsport City). I had, in big letters yet, FREE CAMP on my display.
A parent was talking with the one in charge of the Upward BB event and said, "It can't be free". They were advised to talk with me. Their replay was, "yeah, but it can't be free".
Whether they spoke with me or not, I really don't know. But if they didn't, their child is missing out on a FREE day of camp. Bummer!
Some will say that Jesus' forgiveness can't be free. They have to earn it or at least earn Jesus' favor. That's not what the Bible teaches. The Scripture assures us that forgiveness is a gift.
Like all gifts, there is a cost. The provider of the gift has to shell out the bucks. Same with forgiveness. Jesus paid the cost with His life when He died on the cross and rose again. So now, as the Bible puts it, "the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Have you received this free gift? If not, why not do it right now. Need some help? Shoot me an email or message and let's chat.
