Don't Make No Sense Sunday, December 2, 2012
Lots of decorations going up. Stores are having sales. Trees, gifts, shopping, food, parties. It's an awesome time of the year.
Something confuses me though. The ole battle over "Christmas Trees" vs "Holiday Trees", along with "Merry Christmas" vs "Happy Holidays" has already begun. Just the other day I heard of a principal at a school taking down a nativity scene.
Here's my dilemma. (Thank you spell checker for the spelling of dilemma). If these people don't believe in the story of Jesus...WHY ARE THEY CELEBRATING?
Surely they can figure out that this big halabalu (spell checker didn't help me with that one) is more than just a world wide day of gift giving. You'd think a principal would be intelligent enough to figure out there's a bigger reason for Dec 25th than just sales at stores. And the governor of a holiday tree state should realize there's a larger picture at work here.
All I know is that I can celebrate Christmas because of Christ. He gave me a gift of forgiveness for which I am, and will be eternally grateful. My prayer is that they will find and accept that gift as well.
