I've never understood how they can tell if the groundhog can see his shadow or not. I guess they just ask him. You'd think they'd put the groundhog answering on tv or something. As for me, I'd rather stay in the shadow.

 

Don't get me wrong. I love the sunshine. In fact, I can hardly wait until Spring and some warmer weather. This freezing cold weather lately is getting old...and cold! But it's a particular shadow I love.

 

To be in this shadow, you have to be in a secret place. That's always a good place to find a shadow. But there are good shadows and bad ones. I love to be in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1 tells us of this shadow. "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty".

 

Wow, this implies security, love, protection, and nearness to God. That's where I wanna be. But to be there, I've gotta be dwelling with Him.

 

Tomorrow, Groundhog Phil, (I can't spell Puxatonie), might or might not see his shadow. But this week, I'm going to make it my goal to "abide" under God's shadow. Sounds like an awesome place to live to me.
