Reason or Excuse  Sunday, January 18, 2009

Interesting Sunday today. This morning, where I live, there was some ice on the roads. I showed up at church and - high ho nobody home. :) We had canceled.

 

Should we risk our lives to go to church? Of course not. Many had a good reason to stay at home. But tonight, the roads were clear. It was fine. Where were all the people? Dunno. Guess they used an excuse that it was icy this morning.

 

I had a teacher in Bible college from Korea who told of how he would go to church on Sunday and get face slapped on Monday by his teachers for missing the Sunday clean up day at school. Talk about a good reason and excuse for missing church. Yet he went. He was persecuted by teachers for loving God.

 

So, how about you? Been to church recently? God tells us to get together to worship, "and so much the more as you see the day approaching". As Jesus' coming gets closer, we are to get together more.
