Just A Little Touch Up Sunday, August 20, 2006
I was preparing our booth at the fair and there was a spot on the wall that needed a little touch of paint. Being so proud of myself for keeping the paint card for about 10 years, I went to the paint store with number in hand. After securing said paint, I promptly went and covered over the bad spots on the wall. After returning the next day, to my horror, the paint had dried much darker than the original (which had faded) making it worse than when I started. We now have a brand new paint job on all of the walls!
That's about what happens when we don't deal with our sin and try to just cover it up. We make a mess of things. The Bible tells us that if we try to cover our sin, we will not prosper. Also, if we hid iniquity in our heart, the Lord will not hear us. So what do we do.
If you don't know Christ as your Savior, that's your first step. You are then forgiven. If Jesus is already your Savior and you sin, your friendship with Him is messed up. Go to Him and admit you've messed up. It's that simple. (I John 1:9)
No excuses. I had to fix the mess on the wall, leaving a wonderful looking fair booth. We all have to confess our sin leaving a beautiful clean heart.
