Tearing Down The Walls   Sunday, May 01, 2005

This weekend, some folks took some hammers, pry bars, and other tools and took a wall down at camp.  This wall was in the Dining Hall and separated the day camp dining hall from the overnight one.  When we ran these two camps at once, the wall separated us, providing two eating places.  It's now one big dining hall giving much needed space for our weeks of camp.

Got any walls that need tearing down?  I'm not talking about wooden walls in a building, but walls that divide non the less.

Many times, sometimes even through no fault of our own, we end up with dividing walls between us and someone else.  It could be through sin, a harsh word, or even just a misunderstanding.  God advises us to tear down those dividing walls and have one mind in Christ.

It hurts to destroy these walls.  I go into the Dining Hall and almost wish the wall was back up.  (No one likes change).  But I realize that the benefit of having that wall down will erase any emotional attachment to "what used to be".

Walls between people hurt to take down too.  But it's well worth the little bit of pain, embarrassment, and hurting of our pride when we realize that friendships can be restored and God can be glorified.

Got a wall between you and someone else?  Grab a Spiritual hammer and ask God to mend the relationship.
