Bad News And Good News Sunday, January 30, 2005
I heard about a man the other day who woke up with an ice covered car. (A bunch of us did that the other day). After cleaning the windshield, he departed on his journey. The bad news was that during his drive, he found yet some more ice...on the road. This caused him to slide to the side of the road and scrap against a guard rail. Bad old ice.
But now for the good news. This same ice that seemed to be a trial turned out to be a blessing. The very ice storm that coated the road causing an accident also covered his car. And because of the ice on the car, the car was protected from the guard rail leaving the car unharmed.
Ever complain about a trail? I have. Remember that God allows trials in our lives so we can be made better. The very trial that causes us grief can grow us, complete us, and draw us closer to Jesus.
If you're going through a trial right now, take a deep breath and remember that if you know Christ, it won't be wasted time if you handle it right. And with God directing, you can do just that.
Count it all joy when you fall into various trials...James 1:2!
