Searching for the Big Drip   Sunday, February 20, 2005

Why is it that it's always raining when you have a flat tire or some

such bad news.  I spent a good part of the afternoon, in the misting

rain, trying to find a water leak at camp.  We'd shut off one valve,

check the meter, shut off another one, check the meter, and so on.  We

have it narrowed down a bit but we still aren't sure where the water

is escaping.

Why fix the leak?  Because it's BAD NEWS.  Big bucks when the waterbill rolls in.  It probably causes constant erosion where the leak is.  It's just bad news.

Just as we are examining our pipes for a leak, we need to search our

lives once in a while to see if we have a leak of sin.  Water leaks

sneak up on us and we don't even notice some until we get the enormous bill.  Sin does the same.  Satan sneaks up on us and before we know it, we're trapped.

Sin causes much the same damage as a leaky pipe.  It erodes our values and morals and the bill for sin is quite expensive.  In fact, without forgiveness, Romans 3:23 tells us that the payment for sin is death.  Sin is just BAD NEWS!

We are calling the water company to examine a valve.  Let's all

examine our hearts this week.  Ask God to show you if you have any sin in your life to deal with.
