Now That's Just Dumb!   Tuesday, December 06, 2005

I've been pondering an e-pistle on the ole "battle for Christmas" that's been going on in our country.  I've been putting it off until tonight when I just heard something on the news.  This is too funny - and yet - too very sad!

In Memphis, there is a library that won't allow a nativity scene, so to speak.  A lady wanted to put up an advertisement for her church's religious play.  She was told that she could put up the manger but wasn't allowed to place Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, or even the Wise Men in the display.  So they ended up displaying a barnyard.  When I heard this one, I just had to laugh.

I'm not sure that I can personally turn the tide on the attack on the reason for Christmas.  I do plan to do all my Christmas shopping in stores that use the term "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays".  (If possible).  :)

I am taking the initiative to not wait for the store clerks though.  I'm wishing them a Merry Christmas.  I've already had two (in a store that's not supposed to say it) reply "Merry Christmas" back to me.  And I've also had two other stores thank me for saying Merry Christmas.

May I encourage you to spread the "Merry Christmas" message any time you can.  Maybe the stores won't say it, but we sure can!
