Them Dukes, Them Dukes   Sunday, August 01, 2004

I was with a group at a restaurant last Friday. So as we were eating, one of our group came to the table and said, "you'll never guess who I just shook hands with"!!!

It was none other than Roscoe P. Coletrain from the Dukes of Hazzard tv show back in the 70's. Eventually I saw him too, along with "Cooter" the mechanic. I got to shake hands with Roscoe and he even interrupted one of our group pictures, running over and joining in. We had a great time.

I'm sure he get's tired of all the attention sometimes, but he seemed to be having a blast that evening. He was a really cool guy too.

Now in no way am I saying that he's not doing what God wants him to do. I didn't ask him and I really don't know. All I know is that I wouldn't trade places with him for anything.

He probably spent his evening answering questions about what it was like to be on tv, etc. People were probably after autographs and handshakes. Again, if that is what God wants him to do, that's awesome. However, I'm so glad for the question I got to answer earlier that day.

A young boy came up to me and asked what he needed to do to be a missionary. What a privilege to share with that young man just to love Jesus and always follow Him. Jesus will direct his paths. That's eternal stuff and that's what I want to spend my time doing.

What about you? Are you loving Jesus? That's what it's all about. Whether you are a missionary like me, a tv star like Roscoe, or a trash collector like the dude who wakes me up each Wed. at 6:00 am to empty the dumpster, do all to the glory of God. Just love Him with all you have.
