Birthday Cake Gone Wrong Sunday, July 25, 2004
I was at a mini birthday celebration complete with a mini cake complete and those pesky re-lighting candles. So the birthday girl blew out the candles and the flame came back. She blew again and the flame rekindled. After several tries, someone took the cake and put the fire out and placed it above her on top of a piano. We then continued the party until...
The flames were back. But the candles were so small now that the flames were very near the paper plate that the cake was on. Soon, the plate was on fire. After putting out the plate we continued partying until another candle started another fire on the other side of the paper plate. That's one fire that didn't want to die.
Sin is like that. It doesn't die easily. We think we got it licked and waalaa, (or however you spell that), it's back and stronger than ever. The Bible says that when we think we stand, take heed, lest we fall.
Don't ever think you are too strong of a Christian to sin. Satan is a master of lies and deception. He will use any opportunity he can to rekindle his firey darts of temptation.
Remember that God is greater than Satan. Put you constant trust in God! You know...that "shield of faith" which we can use to quench Satan's fire of temptation.
Be on your constant guard for Satan's temptations. Also, if you have a birthday coming up...watch out for them trick candles!
