The Gift That Keeps On "Giving"???   Sunday, November 28, 2004

I could go to the best store on earth when shopping for clothes.  I could frequent Gap and Old Navy for my stylish selections.  If I would, no one would say a word.  But let me get something out of the camp's lost and found and I'll always hear someone say, "Where did you get that shirt"!  Go figure.  :)

Such was the case with a certain sweatshirt I nabbed out of lost and found.  I was wearing it when a retreat group was at camp and the director said, "did you get that at..."?  I said, "why"...did you loose one like this?  His answer was yes.

So I told him where I got it, that it was probably his and said I would give it to him.  He said "no, keep it".

Not to be out done, I argued with him a while leaving him thinking he had won.  Later on in the evening, one of his campers was cold, so I took the sweatshirt off and offered it to her.  I then told her that after she was done, to give it to the director.  I thought I had won but...

As the group was preparing to leave the camp, I happened to glance at my car and found said sweatshirt hanging from the mirror.  We just couldn't give the shirt away!

Ever tried to give a gift away and it wasn't accepted?  Jesus feels that way every time someone rejects His offer of free forgiveness from sin.  He offers and offers but time and again, some refuse.

Just like I'm not done in the sweatshirt battle, (friendly warning Eric), Jesus isn't done offering His special Christmas gift.  If you don't know Him, He is offering forgiveness and Himself to you right now.  Why not just take it!

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotton Son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life!  John 3:16

Merry Christmas!
